Re: LicenseQuote calculator review.

Emerson,
Thanks for your nice review of our free music licensing calculator widget available from LicenseQuote.com
I'd like to give you some feedback about your review statements/points as follows:

1. I think, the tool assumes a “non-exclusive” license since it is the most common form.

Yes, it’s based on non-exclusive use which is the most common approach, and of course if the buyer prefers to use the music semi-exclusively or exclusively, he/she would have to propose some higher price for consideration. This is no problem as our "type 2" calculator option also accepts Bid offers and Quote requests options to make it easy for buyers and sellers to enter into some negotiation via direct email contact.

2. Another shortcoming of the tool is that it does not have a feature [to indicate] whether the song is already popular or not. This tool assumes the lowest price and that the song is not a popular one at all.

This partially true for our Free Licensing Caclulator widget but addresses this with our Licensing Bid/Quote widget. Also, our upcoming Pro version will allow the publishers to set their own pricing profiles which they can apply to each song or group of songs as needed. Of course our free version can’t do "everything", but as explained above, publishers can use our Licensing Bid/Quote (widget type 2 alternative) which gives no price, but allows buyers to request quotes or offer bids to the sellers. This leaves it up to the buyers & sellers to enter into negotiation about any specific song being requested.
